The olive-growing culture

The Abrantes region is a region of Portugal with a rich cultural and natural heritage. The city of Abrantes, its capital, is located on a hill overlooking the Tagus River and is known for its historical monuments and natural beauty.

From the Romans to the present day, olive trees have been a part of the landscape and one of its greatest treasures. Many of the olive trees that live in this area are between 500 and 1000 years old and are considered cultural heritage of the region, including the Mouchão, the oldest olive tree in the Iberian Peninsula at 3,350 years old. It is now up to us to continue this legacy and look for a generational replacement for them, so as not to lose our identity.

The Moorish routes

The Moorish routes are the perfect excuse to travel there and explore the mark left by the Arabs, among other cultures.

It has been demonstrated that the first olive trees were cultivated more than 6,000 years ago, when the Arabs began to export.
